ABOUT A WILL 2 WIN INSTITUTE

 

A Will 2 Win Institute, a nine-month leadership training and development program for middle and high school girls held in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area from September 8, 2019 through May 16, 2020. This program is designed to address economic justice by empowering girls through intentional mentoring, career planning, networking, shadowing, and sponsoring. Participants will experience relevant workshops, panel discussions, networking events, guest lectures, retreats,  and empowerment sessions led by exceptional leaders, innovators, creatives and change agents.

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION & GUIDELINES

 

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS ARE GIRLS WHO:

* are middle and high school students
* are in good academic and conduct standing
* exhibit strong leadership potential and interest in our learning modules
* are interested in promoting unification among women and girls
* are concerned about issues impacting women and girls, particularly in Alabama

 

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

 

Application and Required Supplemental Documents are due by Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 11:59 Central Standard Time.

 

$25 Application Fee is due by Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 11:59 Central Standard Time. Applicants will be notified of an admissions decision by July 22, 2019.

*Application: All application submission must be submitted electronically via Google Form. NOTE: All applications must be completed online via the Google Form. 

 

*Required Supplemental Documents (Letter of Recommendation and Headshot) must be uploaded/inserted and submitted electronically via Google form application and or emailed to theflorapearlfoundation@gmail.com with applicant's name listed in the email subject line.

 

*Letter of Recommendation: Have a teacher, school guidance counselor, mentor or employer provide a recommendation letter on your behalf. All recommendation letters must be written on official letterhead and include the contact information of the recommender. Recommendation letters can be sent by the recommender via e-mail to theflorapearlfoundation@gmail.com or uploaded/inserted and submitted electronically via Google form application.

 

*Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable application fee ($25) payable by cashier's check or money order made out to "The Flora Pearl Foundation, Inc." to P.O. BOX 13674 Birmingham, Alabama 35202. Credit/Debit payment can be sent via Cash App to $FloraPearlFoundation

• What day are the monthly group sessions for A Will 2 Win Institute? 1st Sundays (this excludes the initial September 8, 2019 session; this session it will be on the 2nd Sunday)

 

• What is the age eligibility to participate in A Will 2 Win Institute? Eligible participants are young women ages 13-19 who are currently enrolled in 8th grade through college or trade school (public, private, parochial, home school, etc.)

 

• How many applicants will be accepted into the program? Only 25 applicants will be accepted into the program.

 

• Is there a fee for this program? No, there is not a fee to participate in the program.

 

• Is there an application fee? Yes, the non-refundable application fee ($25) payable by credit card/debit card via Cash App to $FloraPearlFoundation, or via cashier’s check or money order made out to “The Flora Pearl Foundation, Inc.” to P.O. BOX 13674, Birmingham, Alabama 35202.

 

• When will participants be notified of acceptance into the program? Participants will be notified via e-mail by July 22 2019.

 

• The program is managed by highly qualified A Will 2 Win Institute staff. All members of the A Will 2 Win Institute team are screened and trained to provide quality care for admitted participants.

 

• Are parents/guardians permitted to attend the sessions? No, parents/guardians are not permitted to attend the sessions. The program sessions and activities are for admitted participants only. Parents/Guardians will be invited to attend the orientation session before the program begins in September and the graduation ceremony at the end of the program in May.

 

• What programs and activities are offered at A Will 2 Win Institute? A Will 2 Win Institute features workshops, panel discussions, networking events, guest lectures, retreats, empowerment sessions led by exceptional leaders, innovators, creatives and change agents.
