YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. YWCA Central Alabama’s vision is to create a more caring community. We work every day to make a positive change in the lives of individuals and in the community.

YWCA Central Alabama responds to the needs of women, children, and families, following the dream of our founder, Maybelle Sloss, who set out in 1903 to serve women of small salaries in adverse circumstances. We provide shelter, dignity, hope, and a strong foundation as we help those we serve find the strength to rebuild their lives.
